It’s always good to catch up with old friends you have not seen in a while and that’s what happened over the weekend when the Central Regional Alumni Association held its 3rd Annual All Alumni Night at the Sawmill Café in Seaside Park.

Graduates from the early 60’s to just a few years ago gathered with plenty of old stories told….I’m sure some have changed over the years. Some former teachers were on hand as well…a good time had by all.

The media from near and far will be descending on Florham Park, New Jersey today as the Jets officially introduce Tim Tebow as……a football player.

This is probably the first time in NFL history a news conference was held to introduce a back-up quarterback, who arrived last week via private jet. Of course Tebow is more than just the #2 quarterback behind Mark Sanchez and Sunday Jets coach Rex Ryan said he could envision the former Heisman Trophy winner being on the field for as many as 20 plays a game. It will be interesting to see how Jets fans take to Tebow, who will instantly become the most well-known player on the team.

It is sad that things have gotten to the point where Lakewood school officials feel the need to install metal detectors in both the high school and middle school. However if that makes teachers and students feel more secure and safer then it’s well worth it. After all there are those who want to teach and those who want to learn and they’re the ones who should be protected.

I know there are many who feel that eventually Rick Santorum will throw his support behind Mitt Romney but after hearing recent comments you really have to wonder about the Republican Party’s ability to unite by November. Santorum basically said that if Romney is the nominee you might as well keep the current President in office and said the GOP frontrunner is “the worst Republican in the country to put up against Barack Obama.” Hard to imagine these two guys on a platform together with their arms raised in unison.

For the first time since his fall from grace Tiger Woods is back on top after winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando over the weekend. The timing could not be better for Woods to win his first PGA Tour event in 2 ½ years as the Master’s is less than two weeks ago. Whether you like him or not having Tiger playing well is good for the sport.
