Brick Township Supermarket Purse Snatch Suspect Collared

The woman believed to be seen on surveillance video slipping a purse out of a cart in a Brick Township supermarket earlier this month is arrested and charged with theft.

Judith Campbell, 32, of Beachwood, was apprehended by Brick police, according to information released by the department today.

They credit some 200 phone tips from people who saw the stills and action footage of the August 4 incident in the ShopRite on Route 70. Police circulated them to numerous media outlets with the store management's cooperation.

Campbell was released on a criminal summons and awaits a court appearance. The probe of possible accomplices, also plainly visible in the images, is continuing. Authorities expect to file additional charges.
