UPDATE: Accident Brings Down Poles On Route 166 In Toms River
A two car crash brings down utility poles on Route 166 in Toms River Friday.
Chief Mike Mastronardy says the accident occurred around 3 p.m. when 78 year old Carolyn Gambino, of Bayville, left the road and struck some signs, before sideswiping a 2007 Saturn.
Louise Opepe, 43, of Toms River was driving the 2007 Saturn, which consequently knocked down the utility poles at Old Freehold Road.
Gambino was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center.
JCP+L crews responded to the scene and continued to make repairs on Saturday.
1800 customers lost power but JCP+L says all customers were restored within an hour.
