As the first storm of 2015 dumped half a foot of snow or more in most areas of Ocean County, ironically enough most of us are feeling relief. Relief that it wasn't that two feet or more that it could have been. But wet roads throughout the area are still concerns for travel throughout the county.

On my way in to the office earlier, I encountered secondary roads that were mostly heavy, wet slush.

While the major roads, including the Parkway, were clear of snow, they were all significantly wet. Of course, with temperatures below freezing, you never know when you could hit a patch of black ice.

Don't let the absence of snow make you feel like the roads are as safe as they would be any other day.

Also, one of my biggest pet peeves that comes up time and again - it still surprises me how many cars I see with snow only brushed off of the front window; with a pile of powder on the hood, roof, and even back window.

Don't forget, not only is it considerate to other drivers to clean off your car, but it's the law in New Jersey.

Take it safe out there, everyone, and be sure to stay tuned for Ocean County Traffic Watch every hour throughout the afternoon and in to the evening on 92.7 WOBM!
