Sometimes we have to take time to think about the little things in life that make us happy. They may seem like things that are inconsequential to most other people, but they make you smile. I had one of those experiences yesterday.
When you drive the same way to and from work every day you start to learn the idiosyncrasies of the area. And, if you're like me, you get to know the general timing of the traffic lights, too. Until, of course, they change them.
I think the scariest thing about this video is the fact that I see things just like this almost every day on my commute down the Parkway. It seems like there's always somebody driving super-aggressively, who thinks that wherever they have to be is more important than everyone else. There's always someone who thinks that it's their job to play traffic cop, which then sets up a super dangerous situation for themselves and the innocent bystanders. Watch:
With the half a foot plus of snow throughout Ocean County melting over the last week, the last thing that we needed here was a rain storm on top of it. But if we want to look at the glass as being half full, it actually did a big favor for a lot of us.
Yesterday's snow storm wasn't fun for anyone - well, maybe for the kids who got the day off of school and got to play in the snow. But for those of us who were digging out last night and today, it wasn't the way most of us would choose to spend our time. However, it's a hassle that's necessary.
Hopefully we'll never have to see our own airbags being deployed. But it's definitely good to know that they're there in times like this - a young driver is minding his own business when another driver barrels through a red light, triggering a t-bone collision. The airbags immediately deploy and very well may have saved the driver from launching through the front windshield. The video contains an expletive (but let's be honest, most of us would probably have said even worse). Take a look:
