The House has passed a bill to give 800,000 furloughed federal workers retroactive pay once the government reopens.

At the end of last week, there was a great deal of talk about the horrible effects across the nation that would take place if the automatic federal budget cuts that were triggered by the sequester took effect.

We've already had plenty of discussions about how Ocean County is a major tourist destination in the Summer and even talked about whether it's better to stick around or get out of town when the "Bennys" arrive. But when you do get out of town, where do you go?

It's impossible to turn on the TV and not see an attack ad for this candidate, a inspirational ad from that candidate, and soon lawn signs will be popping up like dandelions on your summer landscape. But here's what I'm wondering, is it all pointless?

2012 is a big election year, in Ocean County we have Senate seats up for grabs, Congressional seats up for grabs, and of course we'll vote on the highest office in the country this Fall as well. But it looks like things are starting early here at the shore.
