Pedestrian struck in Lakewood dies from injuries

A 68-year-old Lakewood man struck by a vehicle Saturday night while crossing Cedarbridge Avenue, died from his injuries, according to Township police. 

Detective Sargeant Gregory Staffordsmith said the unidentified victim suffered serious head and internal injuries while trying to cross the road around 6:40 pm. Monoc Paramedics transported him to Monmouth Medical Center's Southern Campus where he later died from his injuries.

A 55-year-old Freehold woman driving the 2013 GMC Yukon has not been charged at this time, according to Staffordsmith. The accident remains under investigation by the Lakewood Police Department Traffic Safety Unit, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Ocean County Sheriffs Department CSI Unit.
