Motorists continue to see higher prices at the pumps in New Jersey.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of regular gasoline in New Jersey on Friday was $3.49, up 3 cents from last week. But that’s still less than the price from a year ago, when motorists were paying $3.66.

Meanwhile, the national average price rose 4 cents to $3.49. But that’s lower than the national average from a year ago, which was $3.70.

This marks the fourth straight week that gas prices have increased in New Jersey.

Gas prices have risen steadily since early July and might not retreat until after August,” said Tracy Noble, spokesperson for AAA Mid-Atlantic. “That said, crude oil has returned to trade in the $80 per barrel range (down from the $90 per barrel range last week), which means prices at the pump should stay where they are for at least the time being.”
