32-year-old Matthew Moore of Toms River was spotted by Lakewood Officer Kristie Buble in a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Kentucky Fried Chicken on County Line Road shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday, according to Detective Sgt. Greg Staffordsmith, the Asbury Park Press reported.

As Officer Buble approached the vehicle, Moore allegedly was getting ready to swallow it. He was arrested and charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Moore was an officer in Lakewood's patrol division and was hired in August, 2005. He resigned a few months ago, but Staffordsmith said he was not aware of the circumstances surrounding Moore's departure.
