Tips on eating healthy during the Holidays

The holiday season is here, and for many of us the pies, cookies and candy canes are just as exciting as the anticipated gift exchanges. But for the 30 million children and adults in the United States living with Type 1 diabetes, a stocking full of treats or a holiday party with endless desserts shines a light on the more daunting parts of living with this illness – reading every nutrition label, avoiding favorite foods and constantly monitoring blood sugar levels.

Hallie Addington and Janet Gidner are parents of young children with Type 1 diabetes who have made it their mission to make the holiday season more manageable for their kids. Their goal is to ensure that kids with Type 1 can still enjoy all of the seasonal festivities without feeling left out, and without adding extra stress for parents.
