A Cedar Run woman is charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, and failure to secure a five-year-old in a child restraint seat following a head-on collision in Stafford Township Wednesday night, that injured the child and the other driver, according to authorities.

Police are still investigating what caused 51-year-old Eileen King to cross over the center line and into the vehicle being driven by 20-year-old Paige Spano of Tuckerton on Route 9 at Mayetta Landing Road shortly after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Spano suffered extensive injuries and was airlifted to Atlantic City Trauma Center for treatment, while the child suffered moderate injury and was flown to Jersey Shore Trauma Center in Neptune, according to police.

King was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center for minor injuries, police said.

Traffic on Route 9 was detoured for about 4 hours.

The accident is under investigation by Stafford Police Traffic Safety Officer Justin Pascale and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.  Witnesses are urged to contact police at 609-597-1189 X8436.
