Police Record Wiped Clean?
The Ocean County Court system is again offering a free Expungement Seminar this Friday, July 18.
"An expungement is a second chance to a fresh start," said Anne Marie Fleury, Ombudsman with the Ocean County Court Vicinage.
Anyone with a criminal conviction can find out whether it can be removed at the seminar. "When they're filing an employment application, they can complete the application truthfully without having to reveal that they were once arrested or charged or convicted," Fleury said, adding juvenile records also can be removed.
Participants will be given information on everything they need to do to be prepared, such as gathering records and preparing the petition, so they know exactly what the process involves."Generally, we have an attorney from Ocean-Monmouth Legal Services who does the bulk of the presentation and then we also have court staff available," Fleury said.
The free Expungement Seminar will take place from 10 a.m to 12:30 p.m in the Jury Assembly, 100 Hooper Avenue, Toms River.
