It would appear gas here in portions of Ocean County has gone up about 30 cents a gallon in the past week. Our prices here are averaging $3.70 which is cheaper than California which has gas hitting $6.33 a gallon for regular. The fact we are much less here than in California still doesn't take away the fact prices are on the rise.

Here in Jersey, we had gas prices averaging at $2.65 a gallon in 2019, now we are a dollar above that and climbing. Will we see prices towards $5.00 a gallon as we had early this year? let's hope not.

When I recently went for gas this week we were at $3.75 a gallon, last week we were near $3.45 so there are your 30 cents a gallon. As we all know this all adds up. I went for gas at $3.75 and need eggs and a double pack of large eggs was nearly $10.00!

Let's hope gas doesn't spike up to $5.00 again but let's keep an eye on it and share low prices with you.

According to Gas Buddy, there are two gas stations in Ocean County with the lowest prices, each at $3.43 a gallon for regular. Delta on Bridge Avenue in Point Pleasant and Tommie Vee's Auto Route 37 in Toms River.

So let us know if you see a low gas price here at the Jersey Shore and we will share it with you at home. We always enjoy your input and it helps to find low gas prices when we are seeing them increase.

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.

Read on to explore the cost of gas over time and rediscover just how much a gallon was when you first started driving.
