Coming Soon: New Kosher Supermarket for Howell

At some point this year, the former Stop & Shop in Howell Township, Monmouth County, will have a new supermarket. Reports indicate a new "Kosher Supermarket" will be home to the location.

 

Moisha's Supermarket, from Brooklyn, will take over the location. Moisha's is a Kosher grocery store chain.

 

If you’ve been around Howell lately, you may have heard about Moisha’s Supermarket coming to town. The kosher supermarket is based in Brooklyn and is expanding into New Jersey, with plans to open in the former Stop & Shop location on Route 9.

 

Moisha’s is known for its large selection of kosher foods, including fresh meats, fish, produce, and everyday grocery items. The Howell store will be a pretty big one, taking over the former 66,000-plus-square-foot supermarket.

 

For people in Howell, Lakewood, and surrounding areas, Moisha’s will bring another grocery-shopping option to the area. It looks like that empty Stop & Shop won’t be sitting empty for much longer!

 

If you remember the Stop & Shop on Route 9 in Howell, it officially closed its doors on October 31, 2024.

 

The Howell store was one of 10 Stop & Shop locations in New Jersey that shut down as the company looked to close what it called underperforming stores.

According to reports, as of the latest reports, Moisha’s Supermarket in Howell does not have a firm opening date yet. The most recent local reporting says, "The store is expected to open later in 2026, but no specific day has been announced."
