Voters Turn Down New Firehouse In Special Election

The Toms River fire election is over and residents say no. Loudly.The $1-million-dollar land buy for a new firehouse that would be the headquarters for both fire companies one and two is rejected.

The numbers were staggering. 263 said yes. 663 said no.

The second question on whether the district should spend close to $49,000 for an emergency generator was also turned down.

Many residents felt unprepared for the vote as they were unaware of the election until this week.
