Veterans who live in Southern Ocean County will no longer have to commute up north for Federal, State or County services. The Ocean County Southern Service Center in Stafford Township will be offering Veterans assistance from all three sources from now on.

Freeholder Director Gerry Little says it's part of a recent Memorandum of Understanding the Board formally authorized with the Department of Veterans Affairs and VA Regional Office.

Little says a representative of the New Jersey Department of Veterans and Military Affairs will be in Southern Ocean County two days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Ocean County Veterans Service Bureau will be there on Friday's and Monday's and the Veterans Administration will have someone there five days a week from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Little says Veterans can now access assistance with claims, benefits, programs like job training, vocational rehab and employment opportunities at the Ocean County Southern Service Center located at 179 South Main St. at Routes 9 and 72 in Manahawkin.
