A Toms River woman and her passenger are hospitalized with undisclosed injuries after their 2005 Dodge Caravan owned by Z&S Transportation was rear ended by a 2006 Hino Fed Ex- box truck causing the van to fly off the road and into a utility pole near Ridgeway Road and Torry Avenue in Manchester Township Tuesday around 8:55 am.

Police say the Caravan was heading east on Ridgeway and was slowing down to stop at the railroad crossing when it was rear ended by the truck.

The driver of the truck, Yeuri Delossantos-Padil of Somerset, 33, was uninjured.

55-year-old, Saliha Laghrour of Toms River who was driving the van sustained minor injuries and was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment, but her front seat passenger, 48-year-old, Azza Dehab of Seaside Heights, sustained some serious injuries and was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Police say everyone was wearing their seat-belts at the time of the collision.

A roadway detour was established for several hours while emergency workers cleared the scene and Jersey Central Power and Light crews made repairs to the utility pole.

The crash is being investigated by Officers Jesse Hoydis and Ian Bole of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit.

Assisting at the scene were firefighters from the Manchester Volunteer Fire Department, EMTs from Quality Medical Transport and paramedics from MONOC.
