LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP - The fishing captain who lost his life at sea a week ago was brought to his final resting place today. Services for Jim Mears, 53, took place at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in the township's Brant Beach section. The Coast Guard is trying to determine whether another vessel was involved in the catastrophe that led to the sinking of the 44-foot Mandy Ness off Barnegat Light.

TRENTON - Lawyers for the Lakewood real estate baron indicted in a massive fraud scheme return to a state courtroom today for a status conference. Eliyahu Weinstein is accused of bilking investors out of at least $200,000,000.

ATLANTIC CITY- Two good Samaritans escaped unharmed when they were shot at while calling Atlantic City Police to report a possible armed robbery.   The pair -- a 40-year-old Brick man and his 67-year-old father were walking to their car Saturday night when they saw a man with a handgun push another man into an alley.  The suspects could not be located when police arrived.

TRENTON - How many New Jerseyans have no place to live? Project Homeless-Connect a week from tomorrow is the annual estimate of those without dwellings or at risk. In Monmouth the count will take place at the Jersey Shore Rescue Mission in Asbury Park, New Beginnings Agape Christian Center in Freehold, Pilgrim Baptist Church in Red Bank and Saint Mark's Soup Kitchen in Keansburg.

TRENTON - A legendary Trenton pizzeria has closed its doors. De Lorenzo's Tomato Pies had been an institution in the city's Chambersburg neighborhood for nearly 65 years. Owner Gary Amico says he decided last month that it was time to "take a breather" from the business.

ATLANTIC CITY - Governor Chris Christie's pledge to revitalize Atlantic City moves a step ahead tomorrow at the Convention Center. The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority takes public comment on its Tourism District Master Plan in an evening session. Another public hearing takes place January 26th at Our Lady Star Of The Sea Church.

MANASQUAN - A borough-based businessman offers some TLC to the two New York Rangers fans who were beaten in Philadelphia after the Rangers-Flyers Winter Classic on January 2. Neal Auricchio Jr. and Michael Janocko will be the guests of Trinity Financial Sports and Entertainment founder Peter Grandich for the February 12 Rangers game, in the suite Grandich shares with former Rangers Nick Fotiu and Ron Greschner.
