Toms River Aldi Reopens, Lidl In Lacey Still Delayed

It's kind of a mixed bag of good news and bad news for Ocean County discount shoppers right now.

On the positive side, if you're an Aldi aficionado, you'll be glad to know that the Route 37 location in Toms River just reopened this past Friday.

It's been about 3 months since the store closed for a complete overhaul, but now that the work is done and the ribbon has been cut, shoppers can get back to their no-frills grocery gurus.

The news is a little cloudier if you've been looking forward to getting your first look at Aldi's fellow German retailer Lidl, which we reported was being pegged for Lacey Township about a year ago.

While the discount chain continues work on new locations in Monmouth County, the Asbury Park Press is saying that things haven't exactly been going at a similar place in Lacey Township, which has been reportedly delayed by apparent permit issues and is still just a patch of land on Route 9.

As of right now, the Vineland location is the only NJ store listed on Lidl's website.
