In a Monday announcement, the New Jersey Lottery is betting that people are going to get excited about a big increase in the starting jackpot on one of their most popular games.

The New Jersey Lottery actually made a number of announcements on Monday afternoon. Most were procedural, but in the info drop was a paragraph about the Jersey Cash 5 starting jackpot getting a 33% increase.

The changes will all be coming around a week from now, starting on Monday, June 29th.

First, lottery officials said that the evening drawings will be moving from 7:57 P.M. to 10:57 P.M. in an effort to give customers more time to get tickets for that day's drawing.

Each day's drawings will also be broadcast exclusively online rather than on TV.

The New Jersey Lottery said that players will be able to head over to their official Facebook page for live streams of both the midday and evening drawings.

But the biggest announcement of the bunch is the fact that the starting jackpot for the popular Jersey Cash 5 game will be going up by a third, from an estimated $75,000 to a guaranteed $100,000.

And remember, that's just where the jackpots are going to start.

Ocean County has been lucky lately when it comes to the Jersey Cash 5 game. In just the last 6 months alone there have been a trio of big local jackpots.

Just last Monday, a Jersey Cash 5 ticket sold in Seaside Heights hit for a big $630,569 jackpot.

A January ticket that was sold in Beachwood scored a $472,676 prize.

And, last December, a Pine Beach Jersey Cash 5 player hit the jackpot for a $472,883 pot.
