We write these articles all the time, check your lottery tickets, you just never know. I know, if you're anything like me, you buy them and then set them aside. And, I totally forget I bought them.

This happens with lottery tickets and scratch off lottery tickets. I've won already and still set them aside and forgot to go cash them in. It wasn't a $50,000 winner, but still. Why do we do that?

I've talked about this on the radio and I've written about my Mom and Dad owning a News Agency in my little town growing up in Pennsylvania. They were the first ones to have a lottery machine in their little store. It was before the PA lottery was in any grocery stores, liquor stores, Wawa's, or anywhere else. I remember Dad saying, I hope we get a couple of winners, then we get a little bit for selling the ticket to them. They did have a couple of little winners, which meant, they got a little bit of money from the lottery. I miss that little store.
