It's the end of an era and almost 30,000 jobs nationwide. Toys R Us will be closing its doors after nearly 6 decades of being a toy leader here in the U.S.

Company officials said Wednesday the retailer could sell or close all of it's U.S. stores if a new buyer doesn't step forward.

Toys R Us Chief Executive Dave Brandon told employees on Wednesday, it was a sad day. CNBC reported, if Toys R Us shut down completely, it would be "a blow to the toy industry," because Toys R Us accounted for 15 to 20 percent of U.S. toy sales last year.

I have fond memories of shopping with my kids at Toys R Us & Babies R Us too. We would often stop at the stores on Hooper Avenue in Toms River and it will be missed.
