Freezing

We may not be able to get rid of the cold weather, but we can be prepared for it.

There wasn't as much snow as anticipated but the roads still remain treacherous on Tuesday and it may have led to one such accident on Route 72 near Barnacle Drive in Stafford Township.

With polar-like conditions set to bring frigid air to the Jersey Shore this week, New Jersey American Water wants homeowners to take the necessary precautions now to prevent frozen and damaged household pipes, that could put your home in the cold during the inclement weather.

We've had a mostly warm winter season for the so far but that's coming to a screeching halt this weekend with wintry weather and bone chilling winds breathing down the neck of the Jersey Shore forcing a Code Blue activation.

When you look outside the leftovers from that early January blizzard are still on the ground, but the cost of cleanup for Ocean County roads from that storm may surprise you.

It's well beyond freezing and your more than likely not enjoying the temperatures and the threat of snow, but we're only in January so these conditions may pop up over the next couple months.

As the frigid temps continue the Ocean County Department of Human Services announces a code blue alert that's in effect through Tuesday January 2.
