
Warming centers open for the homeless in Ocean County
As the frigid temps continue the Ocean County Department of Human Services announces a code blue alert that's in effect through Tuesday January 2.
Four warming centers open their doors to the homeless in need of some heat.
A Code Blue typically goes into effect when temperatures plunge like they have been and will continue to do so through next week.
Here is a list of warming centers open in Ocean County:
- First Assembly of God Church at 800 Bay Avenue in Toms River opens their doors from 7:00 pm tonight thru Friday morning at 8:00 am as well as Monday January 1 at 7:00 pm until Tuesday January 2 at 8:00 am.
- Lakewood Community Center at 20 East 4th Street in Lakewood opens their doors tonight at 7:00 pm thru tomorrow morning at 8:00 am and then again daily until Tuesday morning at 8:00 am.
- Veterans of Foreign Wars at 373 Adamston Road in Brick Township opens their doors from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm today and tomorrow.
- New Life Christian Center at 211 East 4th Street in Lakewood opens their doors this morning at 10:00 am and closes at 5:00 pm.
