Superhero 5K Race For Ocean County Hunger

United Way of Ocean County and WOBM are teaming up to fight hunger with a Spring Food Drive, capped off by a Superhero themed 5K Run and Walk on Long Beach Island.

The "Mighty Can 5K Run & Walk" is set for Saturday May 17th, and is the grand finale of the Spring Food Drive this year.  Runners and walkers are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Superhero, and to bring a can of non-perishable food for the drive.

Up until the day of the event, you can also drop off donations at the WOBM station, 8 Robbins St., in downtown Toms River, or at one of Good Friend Electric's stores in Toms River, Brick, Lakewood, Lacey, and Manahawkin, which are pinpointed on the map below.

To sign up for the Superhero run, go to the United Way of Ocean County’s website and click on Mighty Can 5K Run & Walk.  If you sign up before May 10, the cost is $25 for adults, the day of the race it is $30.

The 5K race will begin at the St. Francis Community Center on LBI at 9 a.m.  There will also be a special one mile Kids Fun Run for children 11 and under.
