Toms River South Debuts ‘What We Lose’, A Save Our Schools Documentary
Clearly a big story in Toms River, Brick, and other shore areas has been the impact the current school funding formula in New Jersey has had on their districts. S2 has shifted money away from districts that an unknown formula determined were overfunded to others and that has left tremendous budget gaps with both Toms River and Brick looking at drastic cuts for not only the next school year but for years to come.
Those who would be impacted the most are current students and four sophomores from Toms River High School South spent countless hours on a documentary which they hope will be viewed by members of the state senate and Governor Murphy who so far and turned down numerous requests to visit Toms River and other districts to address the issue.
Caroline Dowd, Emma Cooper, Angelina Brown and Emma Colon wrote, produced and edited the 40-minute documentary which features interviews with teachers, parents, and others about the impact cuts to athletics, music and more would have on schools like theirs.
