Having moved around quite a bit in my adult life, I've seen what feels like dozens of traditions for today. When I lived in New England, the break room at work was filled with Pączkis. We were inundated with Fastnachts when I lived in Central PA. And apparently in The UK they eat pancakes (who knew??).

Of course throughout the US, many people use today as an excuse to wear beads and just stuff themselves silly with fatty foods (and usually booze), thanks to the popularity of Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

Of course it's all in celebration of the beginning of the Easter season (with Ash Wednesday, Lent, etc all on the way). So whether you called your fried treats Pączkis, Fastnachts, or just donuts, I say indulge today and enjoy!

So what's your favorite fatty treat? Leave a comment below and let us know!
