One of the Most Irritating Things That People Do

That picture right there is one of those things that just drives me absolutely nuts.

I've used this space to vent in the past, so why not bring up one of my biggest pet peeves?

The shopping cart corral.

Or, rather, the lack of their use.

Shopping cart corrals are great - they keep shopping carts tidy, keep them away from our delicate car doors, and generally keep order in the chaos of a shopping center parking lot.

But they're only helpful if they're actually used.

If I had a dollar for every time I've seen a scene like that picture above, I could pay someone to go to the grocery store for me so I'd never have to see it again.

It's one of those things that I just don't get. How difficult is it to walk an extra couple of feet to put away the shopping cart? Instead, people leave them in the middle of parking spots, balance them precariously on sidewalks, or, the worst offense of all, do as in the picture above and put the cart next to the shopping cart organizer (and block a parking spot at the same time).
