The Berkeley and Manchester Township School Districts teamed-up to plan the event, according to Berkeley Superintendent Dr. James Roselli.

"It really is a collective effort to get teachers as much exposure as they can to a wide range of topics to use technology in the classroom," said Roselli.

Roselli said the expo is a way for educators to discuss how they use technology in their classrooms to help increase students' success.

"So, it's really a real collaborative effort with teachers from throughout Ocean County providing it to other teachers and administrators in Ocean County," Roselli said.

Roselli noted during his 14 years in the Berkeley, the district has expanded all of its technology and in workshops with teachers, which he added is helping make teachers more comfortable with using technology on a daily basis.

"I don't think we even have any more chalk boards in the district. We have mostly white boards and you're able to use a lot of the technology that we have in the classroom to put right up on the white board, what we're projecting from the computer," said Roselli.

Teachers who attend will receive Professional Development Hours, according to Roselli.

The key note speaker is Brad Saffer, Director of Education Industry Solutions at California-based Oracle's Education & Research Industry Business Unit. More than 24 presenters also will share their expertise in the areas of interactive classroom webpages, Apps for the classroom, Symbaloo, Kahoot, Flubaroo, QR codes, clickers, Socrative, and Google docs, slides and forms, according to Linda M. Waldron, Principal of Manchester Township Elementary.

There are 150 spots available for Friday's expo in Berkeley. It's being held at the H & M Potter Elementary School, 60 Veeder Lane, Bayville, 8:15 a.m to 2 p.m. The cost is $50 per person. Anyone interested in attending can call the school at 732-269-5700.
