Ocean County’s First Popeyes Preps Toms River Opening
If you've noticed the mustard-yellow building rising in front of the Toms River Playdrome and across from the Route 37/Hooper Ave Wawa, you know that Toms River is getting a new fast food outlet.
As my alert colleague Andy Chase noticed last summer after the lot was cleared, a sign went up to announce that Ocean County would be getting its first Popeyes location.
Over the following months the building has been taking shape, with the chain's signature red-trimmed yellow facade standing out on the eastbound side of Route 37.
As of the middle of March, the Asbury Park Press quoted the developer as targeting, "an end of April, early May, opening".
Obviously, we've since flipped the calendar to May, so it's probably safe to expect that the first fried chicken will be served up in the coming weeks. We'll be sure to keep an eye on it and keep you updated!
Popeyes already has 3 Monmouth County locations; in Howell, Neptune, and Eatontown, but the Toms River location will be the first for Ocean County.
