A Jersey Shore Go-To Restaurant Just Got Even Better Thanks to a New Chef
Honestly, the chef really is the heart of a restaurant. They’re the ones calling the shots on everything, what’s on the menu, how it tastes, and making sure it’s the same every time you go. Have you ever gone back to a place you love and think, “wait… this isn’t as good as I remember?” Yeah, that usually means something changed in the kitchen.

Around here in Jersey, where everyone’s got their favorite spots, that matters a lot. A great chef can turn a place into your regular go-to, the kind of spot you keep going back to all summer. And if things change? You notice real quick.
Sometimes a restaurant just gets better, and that might mean getting an even better chef or adding to its staff.
Why is the Grand Tavern in Neptune So Good?
The Grand Tavern down in Neptune is one of those places that feels like it’s been there forever, but it actually opened in 2016 after taking over an old local bar and giving it a total refresh. The idea was pretty simple: keep that easy, laid-back Jersey Shore feel, but step up the food and overall experience a bit. And honestly, it worked. It quickly became one of those go-to spots where locals just know they can show up, grab a drink, get a great meal, and have a good time… and around here, that’s really what it’s all about.
According to New Jersey Digest, a new chef at the Tavern has been a great move for this Jersey Shore hotspot. "Executive Chef Aishling Stevens silently took the helm at Grand Tavern. She brings with her a wealth of industry experience, including years as the Executive Chef and Culinary Director for Crystal Springs Resort in Hamburg."
The Digest added, "Chef Stevens’ menu is firing on all cylinders—a perfect embodiment of the Grand Tavern ethos. That means simple food, seasonal ingredients, and a technique-first approach to it all. I didn’t think it was possible. Somehow, Grand Tavern just got better."
Sounds like we need to make a trip to The Tavern in Neptune and taste what's new here at the Jersey Shore.
