Mascot Madness Round 2 Midweek Summary

It's Wednesday, which means that it's time once again to take a look at where the Mascot Madness 2017 races stand at the moment, and we have some interesting insight at this midweek point!

Matchup 1 - Toms River South Indians vs. Lacey Lions
After pulling in the most votes in Round 1, the Toms River South Indians continue to roll on at a rapid pace. If the Lacey Lions want to make it to the semifinals, they'd better get their fan base mobilized. At the same time, the Indians shouldn't let up. We've seen upsets before, when a school feels like they have a comfortable lead but end up watching from the sidelines as their competitors vote en masse!

Matchup 2 - Barnegat Bengals vs. Toms River North Mariners
This matchup has been going back and forth since voting opened on Monday. It's anybody's game right now. It'll all come down to who can keep the pressure on as we head into the close of voting at midnight on Sunday! Speaking of close matchups...

Matchup 3 - Toms River East Raiders vs. Brick Township Green Dragons
The Raiders and Green Dragons were literally tied when I pulled this data. It's 50/50 right now. Will last year's winners keep pushing for a repeat, or will the Green Dragons fireball the Raiders' hopes of making it two for two?

Matchup 4 - Donovan Catholic Griffins vs. Central Regional Golden Eagles
After grabbing the second seed by a pretty large margin, the Donovan Catholic Griffins' momentum has slowed down a little, it would seem. As of right now, the Central Regional Golden Eagles are holding a lead but, as I said for Matchup 1 above, it's no time to rest on your laurels. The Griffins showed in Round 1 that when they vote, the vote a lot!

So that's where we stand at this middle of the work week point. Again, anything can happen between now and Sunday at midnight. For those in the lead, don't get too comfortable. For those behind; get your friends, family, classmates, and teachers voting!
