Let’s Settle This Once and For All! Pork Roll or Taylor Ham?
If you are from outside New Jersey you may not have any idea what we are talking about in this article, but if you live in the Garden State you know exactly what we are discussing. The debate over the name for this food that's famous in Jersey. It's a Jersey thing and we wanna see if we can finally settle the battle between "Pork Roll" and "Taylor Ham". According to Eater "If you're from New Jersey, pork roll — also known as Taylor ham — has been a breakfast staple since pretty much birth."
So let's talk turkey, or in this case, let's talk pork products. So what is "Pork roll/Taylor Ham"? According to Eater "Pork roll/Taylor ham is a processed pork product made with a mix of spices, salt, a sugar cure, and preservatives that is smoked before being packaged."
So I want to be totally transparent and say for me and my family it has always been "Pork Roll". There is no debating that for us it is a pork roll and cheese (maybe a fried egg) on a roll.
