Manchester Township began their multi-phase testing process this weekend for police applicants.

The first phase of the test includes a physical examination, according to a press release from Manchester authorities.

Eighteen Manchester Township Police Officers assisted with administrating the examination, which includes five stations: the vertical jump, sit ups, 300 meter sprint, pushups, and 1.5 mile run, the release said.

A high number of applicants - 320 to be exact - forced officials to administer the test for two days, the release said.

Failure to meet the minimum standard at any exercise station means immediate elimination from the testing process, the release said.

Those who pass to the next phase face a written examination, followed by an oral examination and extensive background investigation, according to the release.
