MANCHESTER— Residents in the Crestwood Village Six section of Manchester are breathing a sigh of relief after police announced they arrested a man alleged to have attempted to break into cars and got into one successfully.

Micheal Wardell, 26, of Kingfisher Way, was arrested on Friday for his role in a string of car burglaries that took place in the early morning hours while residents were asleep.

On Wednesday, October 9th, at 5:09 am, officers responded to a home on Stony Brook Road for a report of an attempted car burglary. A neighbor then alerted police that they observed a white male on their Ring Doorbell camera trying to make entry into their vehicle overnight without success. The suspect then went to their neighbor's house and entered their car that was unlocked and stole a small amount of loose change.

One week later, the same victim reported to the police that he learned that two of his credit cards were fraudulently used at a nearby restaurant and taxi cab service. This led police to identify Wardell as the primary suspect.

On Thursday, October 17th, Manchester Police Detectives apprehended Wardell at his residence.

Wardell was charged with Burglary, Theft, and Theft of Credit Cards. He transported and lodged in the Ocean County Jail following Bail Reform Guidelines.
