I'm determined to enjoy the holiday season this year.  Why do I say that?  Because in the past few years Christmas suddenly just arrived and then it was over.  What I mean is that I found myself in December dealing with an overloaded schedule, putting out fires, meeting deadlines, and then next thing I knew it was Christmas and I was making excuses for my non-decorated house and the lame last-minute gifts I bought for my family.  I'm not proud of this but I'm hoping with this public confession, I'll start turning things around.

I've already ordered some presents and I'm going to make time this weekend to get out to some stores.  And I'm determined to put my full-size tree up and decorate it and the house in the next few days.  I'm also going to sit down and watch at least one holiday special on TV.

In what felt like a good kickoff to the holiday season, I attended a holiday music concert Friday.  I'm glad I went.   It's the most wonderful time of the year and want to take time to experience its wonder.  I can't do that if I don't slow down.

As with business, it's good to set a clear goal and then take the necessary steps to reach the goal.  So through this blog post I'm sharing my plans to reach my goal of putting some JOY back in my December.   What actions do you take to savor the holiday moments?  Any tips for slowing down and enjoying the season?
