Land on Route 88 and Jack Martin Boulevard is currently being cleared for a new Wawa.

Last year, we told you about how the plans for the new Wawa in Brick was stirring up controversy. The convenience store would be on the site of The Laurelton Mobile Home Park, and in a high traffic area.

Brick Shorebeat is reporting that crews have started to clear land to begin construction. The project has been scaled down to allow for eight mobile homes to stay.

A Wawa won't be the only thing on-site - there are plans to build a restaurant and commercial building. There is no word on when the project will be completed just yet.
