In a saga going back a year and a half, a prime location in Brick Township just got the go ahead for a new Wawa.

In February of last year, I told you about the project that was eyeing Route 88 at Jack Martin Blvd for a new location of the convenience store and gas station.

Controversy came into the picture because that exact location is currently the home of The Laurelton Mobile Home Park, as well as an already busy route through Brick.

According to Brick Shorebeat, the project has since been adjusted to accommodate the mobile homes that are still on the site with road improvements and some changes to the originally proposed size of the project.

It all lead to a dramatic vote this past Wednesday that literally hinged on a single Board of Adjustment member's last minute vote switch.

So, now with approval of the Township's Board of Adjustment, the project can move forward. It will bring the Wawa with 16 gas pumps, a bank, and a restaurant to the location right across the street from Brick's busy Walmart.

What do you think, is this a good place for a new Ocean County Wawa? Head over to our Facebook page and join the conversation!
