Lacey police check child safety seats February 15
Still plenty of winter to go...and enough slipping, sliding and poor visibility on the roads. Stay on the alert. And, to be sure that your youngsters are secure in their safety seats, Lacey Township police will give the seats a once-over February 15.
The free courtesy safety seat check will take place from 4 PM unitl 7 PM at the Lanoka Harbor Fire House, Route 9 at Warren Avenue.
Chief Mike DiBella says each inspection takes about 20 minutes to complete. Certified, trained child-seat technicians in the Department, and in the Ocean County Sheriff's Department, will examine installation, padding and moorings, and offer tips to keep the seats snug and secure.
According to Lacey PD, more than 80 percent of child safety seats are either in the wrong part of the car's cabin, or installed incorrectly. So, if you've never been sure how it all works, you can learn from the technicians. Be sure to tell a friend!
