We could debate lunch all day long.

There's the whole sub vs. hoagie thing. There's the battle between Wawa loyalists and QuickChek aficionados. And then there's the battle over who makes the best sandwich in all of Ocean County.

The fine folks over at NJ.com had a tough task - they set out to name who they think makes the best subs in each of New Jersey's 21 counties.

Not a bad gig, huh? Being able to go from shop to shop, sampling at each one, and being able to call it work. Where do I sign up?

Anyway, what did they discover?

First, one thing that I think we can all agree on is the fact that sure, Wawa and QuickChek might make good subs, but New Jersey is not only not at a deficit for locally owned sub shops, but we have some outstanding locally owned sub shops.

And, as evidenced by the NJ.com list, some of the best aren't even specifically sub shops.

That being said, according to the taste tests, they're naming Joe Leone's in Point Pleasant Beach as the home of the best subs in Ocean County.

I've never had a sub from Joe Leone's, but I've had plenty of their other food. From pasta to the store made mozzarella, and their outstanding bread, too. Based on my experiences with Joe Leone's, it doesn't surprise me to read that they also make a great sub sandwich.

By the way, the two runners-up were a pair of Toms River sandwich shops - Sub Doctors and Driftwood Deli & Sub Shop.

So what do you think? Do you agree? Who do you think is the home of the best sub in Ocean County? Comment below and give your favorites a shout out!
