How You Can Help Protect Local Police With Vest-A-Cop
As we look back at the scary saga that has taken place in New Jersey over the last few days, starting with last Saturday's Seaside Park bombing, it's clear that the first priority of our law enforcement officers is to protect us, many of them putting their lives on the line.
This became particularly clear when the suspect, Ahmad Rahami, shot a Linden police officer who was thankfully wearing a bulletproof vest. Without that protection, the story could have ended in tragedy.
That's why the Toms River Police Department needs your help next Monday.
TRPD is joining up with the Pizza Hut on Route 37 in Toms River for their annual Vest-A-Cop fundraiser.
From 4-9pm on Monday (September 26th), you can bring the family out to dinner at Pizza Hut, where TRPD's finest will be serving as the waitstaff for the evening.
There will also be plenty of activities for the whole family, including face painting for the kids, music, and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department will also be on hand to create identification cards for children.
All tips and donations will go to the Township's Bulletproof Vest Fund.
You can also get a lot more information on all of the community events in our area with local law enforcement by checking out our Huddle For Heroes page by clicking here.
And, while we're talking about our Ocean County police forces, don't forget to tell us which department you think has the best looking vehicles! You can get more info on that and submit photos by clicking here!
It's a great way to thank those who put their lives on the line for us every day. If you'd like more info, you can call Pizza Hut at 732-341-3883.
