Hiking NJ: Franklin Parker Preserve in Chatsworth, New Jersey

If you are looking for a nice scenic trail to hike then I must recommend to you the Franklin Parker Preserve. The Preserve is located in Chatsworth which is part of Woodland Township in Burlington County, New Jersey.

We took a hike along the "Red Trail" and it was a 6-mile loop that began and ended at the Franklin Parker Preserve parking area along Route 532. This trail looped around the A.R. DeMarco Cranberry Meadows Natural Area. It was a scenic hike through cranberry bog areas in Burlington County.

This "Red" trail is 6 miles. It is relatively "easy" but it is several miles and you do encounter many ups and downs as you dip through numerous small hills. No major inclines, however by the time we were down we were a bit tired. It took us about 2 hours to complete the hike, which went through the bogs and pine barrens in Burlington County.

When you hike this "red" trail, the paths are well-marked and were well maintained, and clear for the most part. There are several small bridges to cross just take your time as you make your way over bog areas at several points.

We enjoyed this trail and it is a popular one with many hikers out along the course that we encountered. It is dog friendly and we saw many hikers out on the trail with their furry friends enjoying the day out in the fresh air of the Chatsworth area.

There are portable toilets in the parking area, but that's about it. Bring your own water and food if you wanna stop for a snack along the way. Be sure to get a pic of the giant "Adirondack Chairs" along the way. It's a fun photo spot and a pit stop along your hike.
