The NFL’s regular season concluded on Sunday and for many that means a significant life-style change.  If you’re a fan of the Steelers, Packers, Patriots, Raiders and yes the Jets you no longer have to plan your Sundays around what time they are playing because their next game won’t be until September.  By the way the Jets have now gone 12 consecutive seasons without making the playoffs which is the longest such streak in all of pro football.  That’s futility with a capital “F.”

However for 14 of the 32 teams there are more games to play as the playoffs begin this weekend and will conclude on February 12 in Glendale, Arizona.  Two of those teams have legions of diehard fans in the shore area and while the road will be very different for the Eagles and Giants they are both on it which is a good place to be.

The Giants are in the playoffs for the first time since 2016 and their season has been a very pleasant surprise.  The 6th seed among seven teams from the NFC they will face the Vikings in Minnesota for the second time in three weeks on Sunday.  “Big Blue” fans should feel good about their chances after losing by just a field goal on Christmas Eve to the #3 seed.

A Giants win would likely result in a meeting with the Eagles who are the top seeded team in the NFC and get the benefit of a bye in the opening round.  Philly is without question the favorite to earn a trip to Arizona next month if they can beat the Giants for a third time and then likely take care of the San Francisco 49ers.  The home field advantage could be very big and don’t expect Eagles fans to make any Sunday plans for more than a month.

As for Jets fans…you have no excuse.  Start that home project now!
