Driving drunk and dumping cigarette ashes lead to two arrests
Failure to maintain his lane was only the beginning for the driver of a 2010 Ford F-150 pickup now facing DWI charges while his passenger who dumped cigarette ashes out of the window, was also arrested in Lakehurst on June 10 around 12:34 am.
Paul Langone, 63, of Toms River was charged with DWI among other offenses while Mark Cremeans of Bayville, 50, is charged with hindering apprehension, littering and had active warrants out for him out of Toms River Municipal Court.
A patrolman spotted the truck leaving the Lakehurst Circle and heading east onto Route 37 and he followed the pickup after it failed to maintain its lane of travel, the first of three times, and Cremeans who was allegedly dumping ashes into the road.
The overhead lights went on the truck was pulled over.
After a field sobriety test on Langone, he was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.
Cremeans, meanwhile allegedly provided the officer with a false name and date of birth.
He was also then arrested.
Both men were brought to the Lakehurst Police Department for processing.
Langone was issued three motor vehicle summonses for Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving and Failure to Maintain Lane and was released pending a mandatory court date with the Lakehurst Municipal Court.
Cremeans was charged with Hindering Apprehension and also issued one motor vehicle summons for Littering from a Motor Vehicle and was issued a summons for the charges and released into the custody of the Toms River Police Department for the active warrants.
The public is reminded that all criminal charges are merely accusations and all subjects are innocent until proven guilty.
