I’ve known the Wintrode Family from the Causeway Family of Dealerships in Manahawkin for pretty much the near 40 years I have been on WOBM.

I’ve mentioned before they are one of the original supporters of the WOBM Christmas Classic and have been a part of that event for 35 years.  Most recently I have been a radio spokesperson for Causeway Lincoln and when I say they are a family-owned and community-minded auto group it’s from knowing them and not what’s written on a piece of paper.

That’s why I’m thrilled to share the news that in 2019 as part of a year-long 50th anniversary celebration they are launching a “50 Golden Acts of Good” campaign to help their neighbors and positively impact Ocean County.  The centerpiece of this is a grant giveaway program during which each month between January and November Causeway will donate $10,000 to an Ocean County non-profit.  This will culminate in December with the awarding of a new Ford Connect Van.

Each month along the way I will highlight the monthly grant recipient and for January it’s Interfaith Hospitality Network of Ocean County which is an affiliate of Family Promise.  Clearly their services are in need as the homeless population in the county rose 38% from 2017 to 2018 which is way over the 9% increase throughout the state.

This non-profit interfaith ministry is committed to providing shelter, meals and assistance to homeless families.  With over 1,000 volunteers they also help these families find jobs, balance finances, improve nutrition, provide transportation, all with compassion and acceptance.

You can help as well by volunteering to prepare food, hosting guests at host sites, playing with children or maybe helping with their homework and a variety of other things.  You can also donate money to Interfaith Hospitality Network of Ocean County or personal items to The Day Center in Toms River.  For more on this wonderful organization you can call 732-736-1550 or visit ihnoc.net.

For 50 years the Causeway Family of Dealerships have been a staple on Route 72 in Manahawkin.  In this their golden anniversary year they’ve chosen to ramp up their charitable efforts for the benefit of others.  Happy 50th and many more!
