A rash of home burglaries in age restricted communities located in the Whiting section of Manchester prompts Police to issue an advisory. Officials say they've been investigating multiple burglaries and attempted burglaries to homes located in Crestwood Villages 1, 6 and 7.

Captain Lisa Parker says a suspect has gained access to a majority of the homes by cutting screens and then opening unlocked windows and doors. She says the suspect appears to be forgoing burglary attempts to homes where the doors and windows are locked.

Parker says once inside, the suspect has been targeting the cash in homeowner's wallets and purses.

The suspect is described as a younger white male, approximately 6 feet tall, with dark hair.

Police are asking residents to lock doors and windows, checking them before going to bed or leaving your residence and to avoid leaving valuables out in plain sight. They also advise homeowners to use motion exterior lights if you have them and to report any suspicious activity to Police by calling 732-657-6111.

Residence are also being advised to lock vehicle doors as well.
