Brick Township resident seriously injured in early morning crash
BRICK — An Ocean County man was seriously injured in an early-morning crash on Saturday, according to a statement by the Brick Township Police Department.
Emmanual Cardona, 28, of Brick Township, was driving with Katherine Cardona, 27, also of Brick Township in their 2019 Honda Accord northbound on Hooper Avenue in the area of 2775 Hooper Avenue around 1:54 a.m. on Saturday, June 6th, 2020 when the incident occurred, according to police.
Daniel Meza, 38, of Brick Township, was attempting to ride his pedalcycle [sic] westbound across Hooper Avenue when Cardona struck him. Meza impacted the car at full speed and launched into the windshield and then fell off the vehicle, which then came to a complete stop.
Meza was treated at the scene and transported to the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune Township with head, back, and lower leg injuries.
Emergency Medical Services from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital responded to the scene along with traffic safety units from the Brick Township Police Department.
Traffic was diverted for two hours after the crash for investigative purposes, according to police. The crash remains under investigation, and detectives are asking for any witnesses of the collision to call Ptl. Lampiasi at 732-262-1141.
