Let me make an obvious statement. IT IS COLD OUTSIDE! Of course it is January which is traditionally the coldest month of the year and we should not be surprised. We had such a mild fall and even December was pretty comfortable but this month has been cold and windy. Today and tomorrow we will get a break with temperatures in the 40’s but next week will be the coldest one yet. The good news (at least for most of us) is that there are no major snow events in the forecast for the rest of the month. I will caution you to remember that February has produced the biggest snow storms in recent years.
There are always road crews in Ocean County working to repair local, county and state roads. In the winter much of the focus is on potholes as snow, ice and cold tend to cause craters of all sizes. While no fault of workers many roads are in terrible shape from years of neglect and overuse. Of course if you drive in parts of North Jersey you will clearly conclude that overall Jersey Shore roads are in much better shape. With that said it’s no surprise that New Jersey ranks second when it comes to the worst roads in the nation, trailing only Rhode Island. Almost 50% of our roads are listed in “unacceptable” condition according to Junk Car Medics https://www.junkcarmedics.com/ and I’m sure many of you have your least favorite.
Central Regional boys basketball coach Mike Clemente knows first-hand how cancer can impact you and his family. As a survivor of this horrible disease he has been committed to helping raise money to find a cure so one day his two young daughters won’t have to deal with what he went through…or worse. Saturday for the 9th straight year Clemente’s Golden Eagles will host a basketball showcase to support the Jimmy V Foundation. There are six boys games beginning at 10am and in the 7pm finale it’s a girls matchup between top-ranked St. John Vianney and Red Bank Regional. Stop by, make a donation and watch some good basketball. Schedule is below:
