Apparently, Diana’s Family Only Makes Rice Stuffing, but Now You Can Too
You learn something new every day. Today, I asked what was seemingly an innocent question on the WOBM Facebook Page - bread or rice stuffing?
My family has only been making rice stuffing ever since I can remember. My Mom makes one with sausage and grated cheese, and my Aunt makes one without meat and with fresh mozzarella. So, when I asked bread or rice stuffing on the WOBM Facebook page, I didn't realize that rice stuffing isn't a well-known dish!
A couple of listeners were interested in trying out the recipe, so I asked my Mom (because I know nothing about cooking), and she was happy to give it out. Check it out below:
Italian Rice and Sausage Stuffing:
This feeds 2-4 people. Double recipe to feed more
1 cup of rice
3 links of Italian sausage
2 hard-boiled eggs, chopped very fine
1/2 cup of grated cheese,
(more or less)
To prepare: boil rice. Take sausage out of the casing, and put it into a frying pan. Cook it well and make sure it’s ground up, you don’t want thick chunks of sausage at all. Drain the fat.
In a large bowl, add cooked rice, cooked sausage (drained), finely chopped eggs and grated cheese. Blend all ingredients well. Grated cheese is optional, but it definitely adds to the deliciousness. Stuff it into the turkey. Enjoy!
This is one of my favorite Thanksgiving Dishes - if you try it out this year, let me know how it tastes!
