All Aboard The Great Pumpkin Train in Phillipsburg, New Jersey
As we get set to enter October it is time to get ready for an annual fall tradition that is a great day trip and it's right here in the Garden State. If you have never been on the "Great Pumpkin Train" then I suggest you put it on your "to do" list this autumn. It's a great way to celebrate fall, Halloween, and olf trains!
I love trains and I enjoy taking a good train ride and this is just the thing this fall. Now it's not a long train ride, but you get the experience and Halloween fun during this day trip. There are pumpkins, gold mining, corn mazes, and more.
The Great Pumpkin Train ride is a fun family activity in autumn. April & I took a ride to Warren County for the train which is based in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Phillipsburg is about a 2-hour ride from Ocean County. Phillipsburg itself reminds me of “old” New Jersey, with a 1950’s feel to the architecture, bridges, and downtown area. Phillipsburg is located right on the Delaware River, so if you make a wrong turn you end up in Pennsylvania lol
According to their website:
- Trips run from October 2nd to 31st weekends
- Trips leave 11am , 12:30pm, 2pm and 3:30pm
- Every child may pick their own pumpkin from the pumpkin patch
Be sure to bring your camera and pack some snacks (free use of their picnic grove) as you head out on the Great Pumpkin Train.
